Search Engines (Robot compiled databases which offer full text keyword searching of the web pages that have been indexed.)

Excite - A property of AskJeeves Incorporated, features comprehensive search tools, a Webmail platform and content and resources from over 100 providers.

Google - Provides access to more than 8 billion web pages.

Google Scholar - Allows for searching scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research, links to full text and libraries that hold the materials.

Teoma - Delivers three responses to one search: results, relevant web pages, and suggestions to narrow your search.


Meta Search Engines (Services that search several search engines at once and bring back compiled results.)

Ask Jeeves - Allows users to ask questions in natural language.

Clusty - Vivisimo powered clustering tool that includes a section on government.

Ixquick - Finds sites internationally ranked as the top ten.
